1. Jesus avoided Judea going to Galilee where Jewish leaders desiring to kill him (1)

a. Not my time, but you can go anytime (6)

Jesus’ Truth challenged (John 7:37-52)

1. Jesus declares in a loud voice “thirsty come and drink… rivers of water will flow within them (27-39)

2. Hearing these words the people say “he is a prophet, others the Messiah, others ask how can a Messiah come from Galilee (40-41)

3. They discuss scripture regarding Messiah coming from Bethlehem (42-44)

4. Temple guards go to priest and Pharisees responding to questions about ceasing Jesus say “No one speaks like Jesus” (45-46)

5. They asked has any leaders believed in Him (47-49)

6. Nicodemus asks does anyone condemn without hearing him? (50-51)

7.  The leaders then ask Nicodemus are you from Galilee too, research and you’ll find a prophet does not come from there (52)

Gospel of John - John 6:41-71

4. Jesus says “Everyone who hears the Father and learns from Him comes to Me (45)

7. Jesus declares “I Am the Bread of Life” (48-51)

 a. Ancestors at manna yet died (49)

 b. Here’s the bread from heaven; anyone may eat and not die. (50)

Jews argue about flesh to eat; Jesus declares feed on real food and drink coming from Heaven (John 6:52-59)

2. Jesus is aware of grumbling and questions if it would offend seeing Jesus ascend to heaven (61-62)

3. Jesus tells disciples… Spirit gives life and flesh counts for nothing; words spoken are full of Spirit and life (63)

4. Jesus knows some don’t believe; the Father enables belief (64-65)

5. Many disciples turn and no longer follow (66)

6. Jesus questions 12 asking do you want to leave too? (67)

Gospel of John - John 6:22-40

1. Next day realizing that Jesus and disciples not present, get into boats searching for Jesus (22-24)

4. Jesus instructs to not look for food that spoils, but endures to eternal life (27)

Gospel of John - John 6:1-21

Jesus’ Challenge: Feeding a gathering crowd (John 6:1-9)

1. A great crowd followed Jesus seeing signs Jesus performed… healing sick (1-2)

2. Jesus went up on a mountainside sitting down with disciples (3-4)

3. Seeing the crowd approaching asks Philip where shall we buy bread to feed these people? A test of Philip (5-6)

4. Philip responded with the enormity of the cost to feed with just a little bite (7)

5. Andrew spoke up sharing a small resource… a boy with 5 barley loaves and 2 small fish (8-9)

 

Jesus’ Solution: Miraculous feeding of loaves and fish with abundance. (John 6:10-15)

1. Jesus instructs disciples to have people sit down on the grass (10)

2. Jesus blessed what they had; loaves first and then fish, then distributed as much as each wanted (11)

3. Jesus said to the disciples to gather the left-over pieces not to allow waste (12)

4. Disciples gathered 12 baskets with pieces of barley loaves from leftovers (13)

5. The people seeing the sign began to recognize Jesus as prophet; Jesus knowing intensions withdrew by himself (14-15)

Unexpected Jesus: Disciples witness Jesus in turbulence coming to them walking on water (John 6:16-21)

1. Evening the disciples went down to lake getting into a boat set off to Capernaum without Jesus (16-17)

2. About 3 or 4 miles out a wind came up and water grew rough (18-19a)

3. Disciples see Jesus approaching boat walking on the water and become frightened (19b)

4. Jesus calms their fears saying “don’t be afraid” and they take Jesus into the boat. (20-21)
