Angel shows John Great Prostitute (Revelation 17:1-6a)

1. One of the seven angels said “come and I’ll show punishment of great prostitute (1-2)

a. Sits by many waters

b. Kings of earth committed adultery

c. Earth’s inhabitants intoxicated with adulteries.

2. John carried away in Spirit to wilderness, sees woman sitting on beast covered with blasphemous names (3-5)

a. Beast had seven heads and ten horns

b. Woman dress in purple and scarlet with glittering gold and precious stones and pearls.

c. She held a cup filled with abominable things and filth of adulteries

d. Name written on her forehead a mystery

3. Woman was drunk on blood of God’s holy people and testimony of Jesus (6)

Angel asks why John’s astonishment with mystery of Woman and Beast (Revelation 17:6b-8)

1. John astonished at woman and beast and asked by angel “why” (6b-7a)

2. Angel tells John that he will explain what you see. (7b)

3. Beast seen “once was, now is not and will come out of abyss and go to destruction (8a)

4. Inhabitants of the earth whose names not written in book of life from creation of the world will see beast and be astonished because “it was, now is not and yet will come” (8b)

Angel explains meaning what John saw (Revelation 17:9-19)

1. Mind of wisdom called for  and explanation (9)

2. Seven heads are 7 hills on which woman sits and 7 kings. (10-11)

a. Five have fallen

b. Another is not yet come, but when he comes; present for a little while

c. Beast is the eighth king belonging to seventh and going to destruction

3. Ten horns are 10 kings who have not received a kingdom; authority along with beast (12-14)

a. Purpose to give power and authority to beast (13)

b. They will wage war against Lamb, but Lamb will triumph

c. Lamb is Lord of lords, King of kings and with Him will be called, chosen and faithful followers

4. Waters are the peoples, multitudes, nations and languages (15)

5. Beast will hate prostitute and put her to ruin; beast handed to royal authority .. God’s words fulfilled (16-17)

6. Woman is great city the rules over kings of the earth (18)

Revelation 15-16

Great and Marvelous Sign – Song of servant Moses and Lamb sung; Covenant Opened (Revelation 15:1-5)

1. Seven angels with last plagues completing God’s wrath (1)

2. A glowing sea with victorious over the beast beside sea (2a)

3. They held harps given by God and sang song of Moses and the Lamb (2b-4)

a. Great Marvelous are God’s deeds

b. Just and true are your ways, King of nation

c. You alone are holy

d. Righteous acts revealed; all nations will worship you.

4. John sees temple; tabernacle of covenant law opened (5)

Temple restricted – Filled with Smoke of God’s Power with 6 Bowls of Wrath Poured out (Revelation 15:6-16:14)

1. Out of the temple came seven angels with seven plagues; dressed in white with golden sashes (6)

2. Four living creatures give seven angels filled with wrath of God. (7)

3.Temple filled with smoke from glory of God and power (15:7-8)

4. Angels given instruction to Go and spread wrath on earth (16:1)

a. First 3 judgments poured out (sores, sea to blood, waters to blood) with angel declaring judgments just and true (2-7) 

b. Second 3 judgments poured out (sun scorched, darkness, Euphrates dried up with impure spirits – frogs); battle on the great day of God Almighty (8-14)

It is Done – Final Bowl poured Out (Revelation 16:15-21)

1. Call to be ready – stay awake and clothed; not naked and shamefully exposed (15)

2 Kings gathered at a place called Armageddon (16)

3. Seventh bowl poured out with proclamation from temple that “It is done” (17)

4. Flashes of lightning, thunder, and tremendous earthquake great city split into three parts and cities and nations collapsed (18-19a)

5. God remembered Babylon and gave cup filled with wine of fury of wrath (19b)

6. Islands fled, mountains disappeared and huge hailstones fell on people with them cursing God because of terrible plague of hail. (20-21)

Revelation 14

The Lamb, a new song and First Fruits to God (Revelation 14:1-5)

1. Lamb standing with 144,000 with Father’s name on foreheads (1)

2. A sound is heard and new song:

a. Roar like rushing water and peal of thunder (2a)

b. Sound heard was like harpists (2b)

c. A new song sang before throne; heard only by 144,000 redeemed (3)

3. Redeemed did not defile themselves, were virgins and first fruits to God (4a-5)

a. Redeemed followed the Lamb wherever he goes.

d. No lie in mouths and blameless

Angels proclaim Gospel and warnings to earth (Revelation 14:6-12)

2. Second angel says “Fallen is Babylon which made nations drink wine of adulteries (8)

3. Third angel with loud voice warning if anyone worships the beast they will be tormented (9-11)
