Jacob wrestles, is touched and given the new name Israel at Peniel (Genesis 32:22-32) a. Jacob sends family and possessions across Jabbok (pouring out/wrestle) (22-23) b. A man wrestles with Jacob until daybreak (24) c. The man could not overpower but touches  Jacob’s hip  (25) d. The man asks to be let go and Jacob asks for blessing (26) e. The man asks Jacob’s name and gives new name “Israel” and blesses him (27-29) f. Jacob see’s face of God at a place called Peniel (face of God) (30) g. Jacob now limps because he was touched at socket of hip (31-32)

Jacob meets Esau in peace, offer gifts and separate to own place (Genesis 33) a. Jacob see Esau coming divides family  into groups with servants and children in front  (1-2) b. Jacob in front bows as he approaches Esau (3) c. Esau runs to meet Jacob, embraces him  asking and meeting Jacob’s family (4-7) d. Esau asks about the meaning of the flocks he met (8) e. Esau accepts the gift and offers to accompany Jacob. (9-12) f. Jacob reasons with Esau to go at the pace of children to Seir  (13-14) g. Esau offers to leave men to help with Jacob asking for favor in Esau’s eyes (15) h. Esau goes back to Seir and Jacob to Sukkoth (16-17) i.  Jacob buys plot in Shechem pitches tent and set up alter El Elohe Israel (God is the God of Israel) (18-20)
