Joseph manages food bring control for Pharaoh   (Genesis 47:13-27) a. Joseph collects money for food bringing it to Pharaoh’s palace (13-15) b. After another year, Joseph requests that Egyptians bring livestock in exchange for food  (16-17) c. When the year was over, Joseph responds to request for food that Egyptians give land for food (18-20) d. Egyptians now servants of Pharaoh; all but priests who kept their land (21-22) e. Jacob asks Joseph to swear to bury with fathers and repeats God’s promise (Genesis 47:28-48:4) a. Jacob calls Joseph and requests not to be buried in Egypt but with fathers (28-31) b. Joseph is told that father was ill and comes to Jacob with sons  (48:1-2) c. Jacob repeats God’s promise of land and blessed community of people (48:3-4)

Jacob blesses Joseph’s sons Ephraim and Manasseh (Genesis 48:5-22) a. Joseph’s sons Ephraim and Manasseh reckon as Jacob’s sons (5-7) b. Israel asks Joseph about sons (8-9a) c. Israel requests Joseph’s sons come to him for blessing (9b-11) c. Joseph takes sons from Israel’s knees and bows to father (12) d. Joseph brings sons to Israel for blessing (13) e. Israel reaches out to youngest with right hand (14) f. Israel blesses Joseph’s sons (15-16) g. Joseph displeased seeing father placing right hand on youngest (17-18) h. Jacob responds saying “he knows” and tells younger will be greater (19-20) i.  Israel tells Joseph that God will be with you an extra portion of land (21-22)
