Isaac’s blesses Jacob and sends him to find a wife in Paddan Aram (Genesis 28:1-9) a.  Isaac calls Jacob, blesses and instruct not to marry Canaanite woman. (1) b. Isaac instruct Jacob to go to Paddan Aram for a wife from mother’s family (2-3) c. Isaac shares blessing to Abraham  of land (4) d. Isaac sends Jacob on his way  (5) e. Esau hears message to not marry Canaanite woman and marries daughter of Ishmael (6-9)

Jacob dream of a stairway between heaven and earth   (Genesis 28:10-17) a. Jacob stops on his journey for the night (10-11) b. Jacob’s dream with Angels traversing up & down stairway (12) c. Lord above repeats Abraham’s promise of land, numerous descendants and they will spread out   (13-14a) d. Lord states that all peoples will be blessed through offspring (14b) e. Lord promises to watch over Jacob wherever he goes (15) f. Jacob awakes realizing the God was in this place (16-17)

Jacob builds an altar and vows a tenth of what the Lord provides (Genesis 28:18-22) a. Jacob builds a pillar, blesses and calls this place Bethel (18-19) b. Jacob declares that if God is with him; as God blesses he will give a 10th (20-22)
